| Description | Public health is a multidisciplinary field, including professions such as doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, sanitarians, counselors, case/outreach workers, health educators, administrators, biostatisticians, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, industrial hygienists, and others too numerous to mention here. While there are many specialty areas in public health, most jobs fall into (1) assessment and monitoring of the health of communities and populations at risk to prioritize health problems and priorities; (2) formulating public policies designed to solve identified local and national health problems and priorities; and (3) assuring health promotion and disease prevention services, and evaluation of the effectiveness of that care. Identifying needs and administering programs to meet these needs is the responsibility of the public health administrator. |
| Distinguishing Characteristic | Independence University takes pride in offering career educational programs in a convenient manner that meets the needs of today's busy adult.
